Kerala Group Tour from Mumbai: 6 Nights 7 Days

Overview

Join a fixed-departure group tour from Mumbai to the green hills and backwaters of Kerala. Over 6 nights and 7 days you travel by train from Mumbai to Ernakulam (Kochi) and back, stay in 3-star hotels in Munnar and Thekkady, and spend a night on a deluxe houseboat in Alleppey.

In Kerala you travel in a private AC vehicle with a driver. In Munnar you see waterfalls along the road, then spend a full day at Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, Echo Point and Ripple Waterfall, followed by a flower garden, a tea garden and a chocolate factory. In Thekkady you can explore Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Periyar Lake. In Alleppey you board a houseboat, cruise the backwaters for 2 to 3 hours, and stay on board overnight with all meals.

Your train fare (non-AC sleeper), 3-star stays, daily meals as listed in the itinerary, private AC transport and a Travel Manager are included. Entrance tickets and activities such as jeep safari and boating are paid by you.

Day-wise itinerary

1. Day 1

   Mumbai to Kochi by train

   Reach the railway station 2 hours before departure. Meet your fellow travellers and board the Netravati Express (16345) at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) at 11:40 AM, with quick stops at Thane (12:02 PM) and Panvel (12:45 PM). The train heads to Ernakulam Junction and you travel overnight.

2. Day 2

   Arrive Kochi, drive to Munnar

   On reaching Ernakulam Junction you drive to Munnar, enjoying green views and waterfalls on the way. After check-in, freshen up at the hotel and relax for the rest of the day.

3. Day 3

   Munnar sightseeing

   Start with breakfast. Visit Mattupetty Dam, Kundale Lake, Echo Point and Ripple Waterfall (jeep safari at your own expense). In the afternoon see a flower garden, a tea garden and a chocolate factory.

4. Day 4

   Munnar to Thekkady

   After breakfast, drive to Thekkady (about 3 hours), stopping at the Lord Ganesha statue on the way. At Thekkady you can explore Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, go boating on Periyar Lake, visit a spice plantation, try an elephant ride and watch cultural shows. These activities are at your own expense.

5. Day 5

   Thekkady to Alleppey, houseboat stay

   After breakfast, check out and drive to Alleppey, passing scenic backwater stretches and paddy fields. Board the houseboat and settle in. Have lunch on board, then enjoy a 2 to 3 hour day cruise. Stay overnight on the houseboat.

6. Day 6

   Alleppey to Kochi, train to Mumbai

   Have breakfast. If time allows, visit Alleppey Beach. After checking out of the houseboat, travel to Ernakulam Junction and board the Netravati Express (16346) to Mumbai. Travel overnight in the train.

7. Day 7

   Arrival in Mumbai

   Arrive in Mumbai. The tour concludes. Thank you for travelling with us.

Important notes

• Train: Netravati Express 16345 (Mumbai to Ernakulam Jn) and 16346 (Ernakulam Jn to Mumbai). We recommend booking at least 60 days before departure to improve the chances of confirmed train tickets. Ticket confirmation depends on availability and is decided only by Indian Railways. We have no control over it.
• Hotels (or similar): Munnar - Amuse Vista / Green Ridge / Hotel C7. Thekkady - Wild Saga / Spring Valley / Periyar Nest. Alleppey - Deluxe houseboat stay.
• A season surcharge applies on some departure dates. It is shown on that departure when it applies.
• Booking amount is 5,000 per person at registration. The balance is due 7 to 10 days before departure.
